Richard Meckley
Richard Meckley, an award winning designer, has over twenty-five years
experience in designing and building custom houses in Michigan.
Over his career Richard has demonstrated the ability to listen carefully
to his clients and to translate their wants, needs and wishes into
a finished product that is an accurate expression of the clients'
Intentions.
At the Sanctuary Richard is
continuing a long held ambition to turn a sharp attention to detail
and strong commitment to design to the task of harmonizing a modem
project with the traditional rural-village character of the Saugatuck-Douglas
area. In order to evoke the feeling of small town, rural America,
to design “fit” with the local landscape and to show
a respect for the origins of the land, Richard has conceived a variety
of styles and floor plans especially for the Sanctuary's thickly
wooded site. "I wanted to be certain that the style and scale
of these cottages touched a chord !n the hankering people seem to
have to reconnect with our type of small low, rural atmosphere I
want our owners to feel trey have come home to a peaceful., comfortable
sanctuary all their own.'
The Houses
Authenticity and quality are the bywords
of the Richard Meckley homes at the Sanctuary. From the variety of
traditional exterior designs and architectural details there is nothing that resembles
the throwaway aesthetic that is so easy to find elsewhere.
The interior is planned to meet the requirements
of modem living. The main gathering area is an open concept living
room, dining area and kitchen which open to a large screened porch
that brings the outside in and expands the living area in warm weather.
The master bedroom is set well apart from the guest bedrooms and
their bath. The full basement provides room for additional living
area and the storage ability to live year round.
People who prize this kind of environment
will appreciate the care to make the homes energy efficient •
neither space nor resources are wasted at the Sanctuary. |
